Tell the truth - or what you believe is truth - in humility.
This is something we all should learn and practice.
Because if the Lord walked in humility then how much more is expected from us?!
Generally, the higher your calling in Christ is the more humility it will require from you.
Then, make sure you use your authority appropriately.
It is not about showing that I am right and making this clear by saying:
You are wrong because I am this and that, or the Lord showed to me.
No, it is not like this. We are to tell the truth in love.
"in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps
will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth..." - 2 Timothy 2:25
See the difference...
When you say:
No, you are deceived about this matter. You have to believe in what I am saying because the Lord has shown to me.
Then you believe or you are going against the Lord as I have authority from Him.
And when you say:
I believe this way is correct: Because of this and that, and that... I believe this way is good and it is truth.
If what you are saying is truth indeed, and the person must receive it then they will have much higher chances of receiving it.
Because truth does not need help to get accepted, it is not by force or authority; it is by love.
Truth is received by love. You just speak and show the truth, the facts.
When you say things like:
No, I am right always. It is impossible for me to be wrong then you are clearly deceived about this matter.
I just hope you find the truth. Because you are clearly deceived, my friend.
Is this an appropriate way of telling truth?! You said everything, except the truth the person needed.
Saying like that will just contribute to the hardness of the heart of the person.
It is not being puffed up and exalting yourself that you will get what you believe to be true to be accepted.
"John answered and said,
A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven." - John 3:27
Humility. This is something we need to practice more on this forum.
Avoid being puffed up and seeing the need to show or say that you are holding the truth always. Just speak the truth, the truth that is needed and will edify.
"And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him..." - John 12:47
"Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God..." - Philippians 2:5-6
Those who hold the truth do not need to get puffed up, they just make it evident by how it is presented.
"Jesus answered,
If I honor Myself, My honor is nothing. It is My Father who honors Me..." - John 8:54
Truth defends itself, and those who can receive it will receive it... Do not need to exalt yourself in any way, just speak what is true.
And do so in humility, in love.
"For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written,
“The reproaches of those who reproached You fell on Me.”" - Romans 15:3
Blessings to you in Jesus' name!
