Too many people today are focused in seeking their own.
Yes, they seek their own everything and for their own reasons, desires and pleasures.
"And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." - Galatians 5:24
"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which
are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God." - Colossians 3:1
"For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself." - Romans 14:7
"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." - Colossians 3:17
Our sinful nature is so deceitful that we do not even have to listen to it. It will only lead us to death.
"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells..." - Romans 7:18
"For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are
contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish." - Galatians 5:17
While claiming to be followers of Christ and to work for Him, the truth is that they work for themselves.
"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are:
adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery,
hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions,
dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like..." - Galatians 5:19-21
The Lord Jesus said that we cannot serve two masters, we cannot serve our sinful nature and Christ at the same time.
Or we either love Him and despise our sinful nature and forsake it in sincerity or we are just deceiving ourselves.
This is what is known to be lukewarm, the person is unstable and undecided of whom they follow: The sinful nature or Christ.
"...unless you repent you will all likewise perish." - Luke 13:3
The Lord is ready and willing to hold your hands on the other side of the bridge.
What He is waiting for is the act of your faith in your part and decide: I repent, forgive me!
"I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner
who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance." - Luke 15:7
The rest of the battle is also His, you just need to trust in Him by faith.
"You are My friends if you do whatever I command you." - John 15:14
"...Because I live, you will live also." - John 14:19
"...for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give you into our hands." - 1 Samuel 17:47
"...Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, Says the Lord of hosts." - Zechariah 4:6
Additionally, it is written that those who love the world does not have the love of the Father in them.
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world." - 1 John 2:15-17
To have the love of the Father in you is to have His Holy Spirit in you.
If you love the world, the love of the Father is not in you.
If you still cannot choose to obey Him and have pleasure while doing so this means you still are in the flesh.
"So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God." - Romans 8:8
Those who are in the flesh cannot choose to do what is of His Spirit, they are always overcome by their sinful nature.
They cannot dislike the pleasures and desires of the flesh in truth as the flesh loves it and they are unable to do otherwise.
"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.
Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His." - Romans 8:9
It is the sinful nature of the flesh that has dominion over their lives, and not the Spirit.
"O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?" - Romans 7:24
"I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!..." - Romans 7:25
"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed." - John 8:36
Yes, the Son can make you free, free to choose and to worship the Father in spirit and truth.
"For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace." - Romans 6:14
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." - Philippians 4:13
For the Father is seeking for such to worship Him.
"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." - John 17:17
"If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth." - 1 John 1:6
"...the sons of the kingdom will be cast out into outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." - Matthew 8:12
Those who have been born of His Spirit will not be friends with the sinful nature, let alone have pleasure in its desires.
Just as the carnal cannot stop loving to sin against God, those born of His Spirit cannot stop loving and worshiping the Father.
"For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." - James 2:26
"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses,
contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them." - Romans 16:17
"For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly,
and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple." - Romans 16:18
The conclusion is, many will be deceived, many are being deceived in a false love that loves every thing except the Spirit and His fruits.
Love without truth is not love, it is deception because love "...does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth" - 1 Corinthians 13:6
"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." - John 17:17
"the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive..." - John 14:17
"Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." - 2 Corinthians 3:17
"...only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." - Galatians 5:13
"Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord..." - Matthew 7:22
Why do you call me: Lord, Lord! When your lord is yourself, the sinful nature and its desires?!
You are not mine, says the Lord. Repent therefore of your wickedness and welcome Me to your heart.
"But why do you call Me Lord, Lord, and not do the things which I say?" - Luke 6:46
"And then I will declare to them,
‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’" - Matthew 7:23
"Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness." - 1 John 3:4
"And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life." - Matthew 25:46
"eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality..." - Romans 2:7
"For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who
sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life." - Galatians 6:8
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Yes, they seek their own everything and for their own reasons, desires and pleasures.
