Anywhos, here is what the scriptures say:
1Co 13:1-2
(1)
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
(2) And
though I have the gift of prophecy, and
understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And we know that the beginning of chapter 12, was mentioning the manifestations of the Spirit, which are the 9 gifts of the Spirit.
But chapter 12 does not only talk about this.
At one point it mentions how we are the body of Christ, and that all members are important.
1Co 12:20-22
(20) But now
are they many members, yet but
one body.
(21) And
the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
(22) Nay, much more those members of the body,
which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
Then it mentions this:
1Co 12:25
(25) That there
should be no schism in the body; but that the
members should have the same care one for another.
Then it mentions this:
1Co 12:27-30
(27) Now ye are the body of Christ, and
members in particular.
(28) And God hath set some in the church,
first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
(29) Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
(30)
Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
Then at the end of the chapter it says this:
1Co 12:31
(31) But covet earnestly the best gifts: and
yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
So with that said then we go unto chapter 13, which the more excellent way, is love, to always remain in the love of God, regardless to what part of the body you are, regardless to your role, regardless how you are used.
Sometimes people desire things such as the gift of prophecy, the gifts of healings etc, for the wrong reason, yes even in the body of Christ, and we can see that there were schisms in the Corinthian church.
None of these gifts give you greater status with God.
So now let us get to our scripture:
1Co 13:1-2
So it specifically mentions speaking in the tongues of men and of angels.
We know that the tongues of men refer to the languages of men, such as English, french etc.
And it mentions tongues of angels here.
And thanks to Candace, I can now see that there seems to be a specific tongue of angels, which I will mention the scripture:
2Co 12:4
(4) How that he was caught up into paradise, and
heard unspeakable words, which it is
not lawful for a man to utter.
These were unspeakable words , which it says it is not lawful for a man, whoever that man may be, to utter.
No doubt, this must be part of what it talks about the tongues of angels, which I can now see.
Though I am seeing another part to it as well.
Anyhow, let us put scriptures together, and I will put scriptures side by side to each other:
1Co 13:1-2 (1) Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. (2) And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. | 1Co 13:8-10 (8) Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. (9) For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. (10) But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

Both scriptures mention tongues, but verse 1 specifies what kind of tongues.
Tongues of men and of angels.
Now whether you are speaking in tongues or not, one can speak in a tongue of man, but in tongues it would be a language that you do not know personally, but in the natural, it would be a language you know or have learnt.
Now concerning tongues of angels, well I know that at least concerning the unspeakable tongues, that it does not seem that a man can speak in these, at least that is the way that that scripture seems to portray itself.
But there may be more to tongues of angels, then just those unspeakable tongues.
Here is something I found interesting in a discussion between Abby joy and PG4HIM:
PG4HIM: When Satan appears before God’s throne, do you suppose he speaks the same language as Michael? |
Abby Joy: I've heard the demonic language and it is not the same.... phew! It would make sense that God would confound their language/s as well when they rebelled. I couldn't prove that, though. But what I heard (at rituals) was not pretty! |
PG4HIM: Yeah, I’ve heard both sides speak, and even in English there’s a different flavor to it. |
Now concerning what happened to humans, this is what it says:
Gen 11:5-7
(5) And
the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
(6) And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and
they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
(7) Go to, let us go down, and there
confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.
Now before, men just had one language, and after babel they then had many languages.
Sometimes in the bible, some things can be a reflection of what happened in heaven.
So it is possible that the fallen angels had their language confounded, so this is a possibility.
But whatever the case, can God's angels speak to demons?
Jud 1:9
(9)
Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said,
The Lord rebuke thee.
Yes they can.
Now I know that angels can speak in this unspeakable language, but say the fallen angels language was confounded, and they lost their original language, can God's angels speak in these fallen angel's language?
It is very possible, but if they did so, it would be in a different way than the demons, for they would be talking in this or that language as an angel, and not as a demon.
Well in like manner, God's angels can speak in all the languages of men, but they do so as an angel, and not as a man.
From an elevated nature, in a purer way, even at times in a very eloquent way.
Heb 2:16
(16) For verily he took not on him
the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
So whatever tongue they speak in, they speak as angels, or you can say in the tongue of an angel.
So let us go back to our scriptures:
|
Remember the context is the tongues of men, and in 1 Coritnhians 13:8, it mentions that tongues period shall cease, now of course we know that there will always be a tongue to speak with, but concerning the tongues of men they shall cease, but no doubt it will include speaking in an unknown tongue as well.
But when shall these things cease, vanish away, or shall fail?
Now let us mention this verse word for word: "But
when that which is pefect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away."
It does not say when he who is perfect is come, but rather when "
that" which is perfect is come.
When will all things be brought to perfection?
During the time of eternity, which their shall be a new heavens and new earth, and their shall be no more death, nor pain (Revelation 21:4).
Here is an interesting scripture concerning a pure language:
Zep 3:9
(9)
For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD,
to serve him with one consent.
It says pure language singular.
And this is speaking of the millennial reign of Christ.
And whatever this pure language shall be, at this point in time (millennial reign), there will still be the tongues of nations, which we will see in our next scripture:
Isa 66:18
(18) For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come,
that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
But during the time of eternity, there is no evidence at all of their being tongues plural, but nations yes.
Rev 21:25-26
(25) And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.
(26) And they shall bring
the glory and honour of the nations into it.
So in the age of perfection will it be just this pure language that is spoken?
So now when shall prophecies fail?
When the last prophecy is fulfilled, which is the time of eternity.
When shall men as a whole, no longer just know in part, but know in full?
In the time of eternity.
1Co 13:12
(12) For now we see through a glass, darkly;
but then face to face: now I know in part; but then
shall I know even as also I am known.
We shall see face to face with total perfection in every way.
