We have always had people that take unnecessary chances, speeding and being in too much of a hurry, but have you noticed an increase in aggressive driving? I am seeing things I didn't used to, like drivers passing on the shoulder of the interstate, rushing down a lane that is about to run out and finishing up the pass on the shoulder, tailgating and flashing their lights on and off to try to force you to move out of their way because they can't get around fast enough, and in general, just dangerous habits. I will see this kind of behavior, even by drivers with their family with them. I know we are all on tight schedules these days, but I can't imagine that getting somewhere on time is worth risking the death of your family. Has anyone else noticed aggressive driving is on the increase, or do you think it has always been this way?

It is because people have the following mentality: Something bad can happen to others, but not to me.
And they are trusting too much in their abilities. As for taking the risk, I would not unnecessarily risk to lose lives just to arrive quickly.
If I want to arrive in time I would simply get out of home earlier.

They have a program here called 'Car Crash TV'. It might be on YouTube. These are recordings of dash-cams.
To answer your question, people who are otherwise 'normal' when they get behind the wheel can seem to change character. The availability of cheap dash-cams is really quite a good modern idea. I suggest everyone gets one. Here in the UK it can save you so much trouble if there is an accident and also you can use it for reporting drivers to the police or to your insurance company. I currently live in the most observed and videoed country in the world. The cameras also remind us that always the Lord is watching us.
There was a mob attack in a shopping center in the UK several years ago. Those that think they got away with it are still being prosecuted due the amazing amount of video data still being looked at. Get a dash-cam and stay safer as it also will monitor your activities.

Yes, I too have noticed an increase in aggressive drivers. It scares me a bit when I don't see them coming; like, what if I didn't get out of the way in time?
I live in the US and in my city I notice a lot of speeding on the interstates. I don't mean just 5-10mph over the speed limit (even I do that, I admit), but some cars will blow by going at least 100mph. And they weave around slower cars at that speed, which makes me so nervous.
As I age, I'm beginning to dislike driving. My record has been perfect for the past 20+ years, but nonetheless, my car has been hit twice. My mom bought it for me new in 2014 and now it looks like a junk heap. Someone ran a red light (I had the green) and slammed into my rear passenger side. Then they took off! I wasn't able to get that fixed due to no proof. So now my rear passenger door is crumpled (it still opens though) and looks awful. Then, last year I was rear-ended hard, with two of my grandkids in the car! Thankfully, we were all okay, and the damage was repaired by the other driver's insurance.
Being in a car wreck is frightening. I immediately go into a mini-shock state. But then I calm down. I'm fortunate that I've haven't been killed yet. Sadly, many innocent lives are taken by aggressive drivers who never seem to die or get injured in the chaos they cause.
Maybe this is all part of the time period we're living in? Society seems to be collapsing at an alarming rate.

Some years ago my wife and I were driving home and I stopped at a red traffic light at a very busy intersection, vehicles and pedestrians. A young woman displaying a red "P" plate beside her number plate smashed into the back of us, I have a 4X4 truck, she had a small car. Fortunately we were not injured. I got out of the car and asked the young woman if she was all right, and what happed, why did you smash into us? She replied, "You stopped." The red "P" plate indicated a driver in their first year of driving
I called the police on my cell phone, told them what happened. They answered the phone and asked, was anyone injured? "NO." Can you drive your cars? "Yes." then we wont be coming, too busy. I replied, I think she is under the influence of drugs. The police said, "How do you know?" I replied, "For a start she failed to stop at a red light, she would have driven right through it and hit the crossing full of pedestrians had she not hit me, and possibly killed someone. "Sorry, were not coming!"
Conclusion, The devil looks after his children!

No injuries but I was contacted by a bunch of lawyers in case I wanted to sue. Of course I didn't since I wasn't hurt.

Too many people that think they are still fit to drive after drinking / taking drugs the night before ...THAY ARE NOT There is also an increase of accidents caused by parents of children who have not been taught to sit and behave and so distract the driver and please do not get me started on those who use a mobile phone whilst driving even to text !!!!!!
