I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators: Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world. But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no not to eat. For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within? But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person. 1 Corinthians 5:9-13
The message here is that in this world, there will be sinners everywhere, and there is no way, other than being outside of this world, to avoid them. At the same time, within the Christian Church, we are supposed to be a different and peculiar people, separated unto the Lord. We are not to continue living as sinners, doing things like fornicating, being full of greed, worshiping idols, slandering, extorting and drinking in excess. We are told that if we have such people in the church, we are not to keep company with them. We are not even to eat with them.
I personally do not think this is speaking of those who are struggling with a sin, such as drunkenness, so much as the Christian who just does such things matter of factly, not even admitting they have a problem and not trying to change. I believe it is speaking of people who are unrepentant sinners who claim to be Christians. They are content and happy to continue to serve sin, while naming the name of Christ. Do not keep company with such persons. This is not always easy, but it is necessary. If we go on like nothing is wrong, it is telling that person in sin we don't see what they are doing as any big deal. It makes the matter seem like it is not really that important. As has been said by Frienduff and others, we must follow the Biblical pattern if we want the blessings of God.

Church fellowship was supposed to be a safe, private setting where people could freely share and edify each other. Somehow churches have become little more than recruiting stations. Evangelism isn’t supposed to happen in the inner circle.
It’s rather like joining a softball team, and then when you show up to a game prepared to play, you discover it’s a debate with people who don’t like softball, and you never get around to playing. No one would tolerate an event like that out in the world, but we tolerate it at church.

Not everyone who leaves is destined to repent. You part company in the hope it will convict them, but it’s not a guarantee.
They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. — 1 John 2:19

But that scripture in 1 John speaks of those who walk away, not those who are disfellowshipped. We have encountered that too back in September.

All I mean is, not everyone who joins fellowship for a while is guaranteed to belong there.

Pro 13:20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.
Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psa 1:4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Psa 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. Psa 1:6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
when we keep company of those who are not trying to live for God it effects us in ways we can not see with our eyes. I do not know the words to say to explain it but i have understood it with my heart and then God showed me the scriptures above and the light bulb came on. us staying away from them should not ever be from the mindset we are better than them, as the israel in the OT thought this way and it wasnt Gods intentions for calling them as His people or nation. God may have us speak or do something in their lives one day that helps them.
light and dark have no fellowship. if someone in darkness wants to come to the light we should not turn up our nose. we shoudnt be putting our nose in the air because we think we are so good and others are just evil or beneath us. I do not see that is how Jesus was when He was on earth in the flesh.... He eats with sinners and publicans?... egad!
Psa 8:4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Us not messing with people who are ungodly is for our good, to keep us from the filth of this world. but that dont mean we are not to let our light shine before men.

Thanks for the pureness of this reminder . We must do as the true ones taught us to . And let not the mind try and reason out the whys or what ifs . Just do as they taught . Its the only pattern that works .

AND as you also know , to continue keeping company will for sure destroy them and the flock . A lil leaven goes a long way of filling up places . We do as the first ones taught us . it truly is the only pattern to do . Sister , you put those hands up and praise the Lord .
