HURT PEOPLE, HURT PEOPLE
(23) and to get yourselves renewed in the temper of your minds and clothe yourselves
(24) with that new and better self which has been created to resemble God in the righteousness and holiness which come from the truth.
(25) For this reason, laying aside falsehood, every one of you should speak the truth to his fellow man; for we are, as it were, parts of one another.
(26) If angry, beware of sinning. Let not your irritation last until the sun goes down;
(27) and do not leave room for the Devil. Ephesians 4:23-27 WNT
Today I am reminded of many hurt people, and their hearts. I have talked with several people recently concerning the hurts in their lives. I felt the pain in their voices, the hurt in their hearts. I have tried to console them with biblical counsel and prayer after our conversations.
Where there is un-forgiveness, there will be disunity, and where there is disunity, there will be division. The fruits of un-forgiveness begin to manifest first in the mouth through slander and accusations, then vicious gossip follows, with the result being broken relationships.
Irreconcilable relationships are all too abundant in the body of Christ. One key sinful contributor is pride, of which the bible says “ pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall “. Pride and haughtiness are the products of rebellion and stubbornness which are elements which divide.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idol-worship. Because you have rejected the Word of Jehovah, He has also rejected you from being king! 1 Samuel 15:23 MKJV
The result of rebellion and stubbornness was the rejection of the Word of God. This always accompanies the attributes of anger, pride, haughtiness, stubbornness, and un-forgiveness. The offense becomes more important than the proper biblical response to them; hence the offense is idolized in the heart of the offended, and the attributes of the Spirit of the Word are forsaken.
The fruit of forsaking the word of God; is then a vendetta and retaliation of giving a hurt for a hurt. This kind of retaliation then effects pass the bounds of the original offender and offended to hurt those outside that original offense. Hurts always pass borders and end up hurting many in the process. This is process and results of disobedience in regards to not applying the word of God, leaving room for the devil to work his dark deeds of destruction in our lives.
Instead let us heed the word of God concerning hurts that can cause us to hurt others.
(12) Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own people holy and dearly loved, with tender-heartedness, kindness, lowliness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;
(13) bearing with one another and readily forgiving each other, if any one has a grievance against another. Just as the Lord has forgiven you, you also must forgive.
(14) And over all these put on love, which is the perfect bond of union;
(15) and let the peace which Christ gives settle all questionings in your hearts, to which peace indeed you were called as belonging to His one Body; and be thankful.
(16) Let the teaching concerning Christ remain as a rich treasure in your hearts. In all wisdom teach and admonish one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, and sing with grace in your hearts to God.
(17) And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, and let it be through Him that you give thanks to God the Father.
