Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
Matthew 5:27-30

It hath been said, Whosoever shall put away his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement: But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Matthew 5:31,32

Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given. For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.
Matthew 19:4-6, 8-9, 11-12

I know that in the world, there is going to be a lot of couples that will just split up because they do not get along, but what is sad to me is the high divorce rate within the Christian church. It used to be that divorce was a last resort, when someone was in an extreme situation where adultery and abuse was taking place, but today, couples split up just because they say they are unhappy or fell out of love or just can't get along. What about their marriage vows? What about till death do us part? What about for better or worse? It is really sad.

Matthew 5:27-30 When I read this, pornography came to mind. This is seen as harmless by many, even in the church world, but it creates lust, and lust will lead us to hell. How many Christians watch pornography on a regular basis? How many are in bondage to it? God can deliver, but we first have to want to be free.

For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept, But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
Mark 10:5-9, 11,12

I have heard some say that if you commit adultery in your heart, it is as bad as really cheating. I know it is sin, but is it really as bad? To me, it has to be worse to physically commit adultery because you are hurting others. What do you think?

To me, it has to be worse to physically commit adultery because you are hurting others. What do you think? Jesus was wanting men to understand that God not only looks at what we do, but on our heart. He was dealing with some who saw themselves as perfect because they kept the commandments, but Jesus let them know that lustful thoughts made them unclean in the sight of God. I do not believe that Jesus was saying that to lust is just as bad as to commit the act. People use that kind of false teaching to defend acts of adultery and fornication, claiming that the man who never actually cheats or sleeps around is no better than them if he ever has a lustful thought. Yes, there are people that are that crazy when it comes to mishandling God's Word.

Luke 16:18 If people really took the words of Jesus seriously, there would be far less people rushing into marriage or seeking divorces. They would fight to make their marriage work.
