Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Matthew 7:15-20

We know that if we hear someone giving out messages that contradict scripture, they are false. In this instance, Jesus gives us another way to know if someone is a false prophet, by their fruit. If a person has the fruit of the Spirit, chances are they are of God, but if they bear corrupt fruit, and are living like those who the Bible says walk according to the flesh, they are false. John the Baptist wouldn't baptize the religious leaders until he saw them bearing good fruit that could come only after they had genuinely repented.

It can sometimes take time to get to see them for who they really are. They can appear to bear good fruit, and keep up appearances for a while, but their true nature will eventually come through if they are false prophets. They can also bring some truth at first. False prophets will often mix truth with lies, but over time, their real agenda will come through.

They will tell you they love you while they stab you in the back. I experienced that last year. It is not really genuine good fruit, but they try to come across like they really care.

I know what you mean. They can fake caring, but everything they say and do is phony. People that do that think they are clever and nobody notices, but they are wrong. Others see through it. We know when someone is not genuine.
