I like that you let visitors post here. I am not a member at any message board, but I do go to different ones and read different opinions. I do have some confusion over something. Do you believe it is possible to think you are saved when you are not? I was reading at one place where people believe that if you get saved, you are always saved, but if you don't live right, you were likely never saved. You only think you were saved. They call that eternal security, but there is no security if you can think you are saved when you are not. Then I read where some believe that if you just believe in Jesus, you are forever saved, even if you are still living in sin. I did read your views and know you don't believe in eternal security, but do you believe that a person can believe they are saved and not be, and is there any way to know you are saved?

You can think you are saved but not be. You can know you are saved by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior and following him. What places you in danger is when you call Jesus Lord but don't do the things he says. That makes you like a house built on sinking sand.

I agree with 777 that you can think you are saved when you are not. Yes, the once saved, always saved doctrine is confusing, and they do not all say the same thing. If you want to be saved, come to Jesus, repent of your sins, ask Him to come into your life to be your Lord and Savior, and then follow Him. If you make mistakes, confess your sins to Him as soon as you realize you did something wrong. It is a good idea to confess your sins daily, and ask God to forgive any sins you may have done you don't know about. Just do your best. God knows your heart, and you can get saved and remain saved. What places any believer in danger is when they choose to sin, when they know what they are doing is wrong in the sight of God. Mistakes do not cost you your salvation.
You are right in that those who say it is possible to think you are saved when you are not are not giving you any security. They are trying to have it both ways. They are covering themselves by saying that if you get saved, you can never lose salvation, but at the same time, if you keep sinning or fall away, it means you were never really saved. Then you have the even more ludicrous doctrine that says that if you get saved, you can sin continuously and remain saved, even if you don't repent. OSAS is a false doctrine and doesn't work. It is a perversion of Calvinism. I am not a follower of Calvin, but at least his doctrine made logical sense. OSAS does not.
Again, welcome to Narrow Way. You are most welcome to continue to post as a guest in the guest section, but you will have full access to the rest of the boards if you join, and there is no cost to you.

Hi Rejoice. Where did you hear about us? Consider joining.
I agree that a person can think they are saved and be lost. Those who keep sinning thinking they are saved are deceived. I mean being in a lifestyle of sin with no change and no good fruit.

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
For you are the servants of WHO you OBEY . whether of sin unto death or of Obediance unto righteousness .
Many think they are saved and yet are not , but those who truly are saved KNOW they are as well . And those who are not saved sure can believe they are as well .
So the question is , HOW does one discern who is OF HIM and WHO IS NOT . BY THEIR FRUITS ye shall KNOW , as in KNOW , as in YOU CAN KNOW them . SO the key is the FRUITS . FRUITS show who is of HIM and who is mouth only . Now , the fruit of the wicked is as proverbs says , TO SIN . AS JESUS SAID ye who WORKED INQUITY it matters not how often ye used HIS NAME , its workers of inquity he never knew . But what is the FRUIT of the true lambs , . Many know the fruits of the spirit , or at least mens version of those words . SO how do we know the actual fruit of the Spirit . Go to and behold ephesians . THE FRUIT of the SPIRIT is in all GOODNESS , RIGHTEOUSNESS , and TRUTH PROVING that which is ACCEPTABLE , TO GOD HIMSELF . THAT IS how one knows who they are OF and who is of HIM and who is not . IF men walk according to what is acceptable to man and the age , REST ASSURED they are NOT OF HIM but if one truly is born again of the SPIRIT they would walk ACCEPTABLY unto GOD by HIS indwelling SPIRIT which is their guide . BY THIER FRUITS ye SHALL KNOW THEM . And no matter what men and their carnal wisdom says , JESUS WORDS are eternal , they are LIFE and they cannot be broken . MEANING , WHAT JESUS SAYS is to be BELEIVED and LIVED . AND HE SAID YE CAN KNOW THEM and by being truly born again we not only believe this we have experienced this . WE KNOW who is of HIM , just watch the fruits . JUST watch the actions and watch who they heed . WILL it be doctrine of men that contradict OR from the heart IS IT JESUS they follow , trust , obey , love and are hearers and doers of the word . Because their is no middle ground , WHO WE OBEY IS WHOSE WE ARE . AND its all by grace , only let us YIELD UNTO HIM , HIS GRACE and HEED HIM and not the flesh , being faithful to the end , even unto death . AND HE WILL BE WITH US and CAN SURELY KEEP US FROM FALLING , only we better YEILD UNTO HIM . aka , HIS WILL BE DONE .

PUT THOSE HANDS UP and REJOICE N THE LORD and in the LORD let all REJOICE .

Thank you all for your answers, and I will think about joining. I just saw your name mentioned by someone at another message board where I sometimes read. There was a mention of video messages. I watched a couple of them. I'm trying to get some things straight in my mind. There are so many opinions.

the new testament spaks of pretenders. there are two kinds of pretenders. those that know they are pretending, and those that do not know.
unless you can point to a point in your life where you had an encounter with God, you are not saved.... and even then whats the story behind it? did god lift a heavy weight off you... did He put His Spirit in you or was there a moment when you felt light inside you, or clean inside like never ever before?
when God saves you, you know it. there is no well maybe to it.
even more... the bible says by their fruits you will know them. there will be something about a person different when they get saved. they will not be interested in the same things... worldly things. God changes you. some folks immediatly, some over time. but either way to be born again is to be a new creature... the old man has died/is dying. a saved person will not do the things they used to do. and God desires to change us and clean us up. if there is no evidence of someone being a new creature or a new person... who then can one say they are saved? just because they believed? oh no... Jesus said... repent for the kingdom is at hand. he never said just believe and receive.
people these days are trying to get eternal life without living it. these people will be very very disappointed when Jesus comes back or they die. God has said be ye Holy, as He Is Holy. do not believe the false gospels being preached today. Believe and receive is a damnable heresy.
having said that. Christianity is really not about a set of rules to follow dont do this dont do that... its about having a relationship with God... its about being close to Him... and By HIS SPIRIT IN YOU AND THRU YOU that you become more like Him... if you do not seek Him to change you and you are just "being good" it wont count for nothing as our righteousness is as filthy rags... in the bible filthy rags is referring to lepers wound wrap rags... good for nothing but the fire. we are to depend on God to deliver us... yes we seek Him for it, but its is Him who sets us free.
remember... there were five wise virgins and five foolish virgins. the wise virgins heard the call the groom was coming and they prepared themselves... they trimmed their lamps... trimmed in the greek is cosmeo. its where we get cosmetic from. the word means to beautify, adorn or embellish. it also means to put in order, and in this spiritual implication it means to put your spiritual house in order. the wise virgins also got extra oil... the Holy Spirit. you see they had prepared to be awake in the night and not miss His Coming. the five foolish virgins did not prepare themselves... they did not repent of their sins or get extra oil by being in His presence walking in the Spirit, waiting for Him.... the door was shut on them to the wedding. did the foolish virgins believe... yes... they did not make it to the wedding. when Jesus returns there will be a marriage feast... and those wise virgins will forever be with The LORD.
if you feel a tugging in your heart, or a sense of urgency... seek God and get in His presence and stay there. do not be as those foolish virgins with a shut door in their face being told i dont know you... i wont open the door for you. TODAY is the day of salvation... now Is the time to give your heart to God... Now is the time to humble yourself, and repent for the kingdom is at hand.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Hebrews 4:12,13 Apostle Paul
