I know that David committed a serious sin in killing Uriah and committing adultery with his wife. One punishment for the sin was God killed their child. Why do you think God killed their child, who didn't do anything wrong, instead of killing David and Bathsheba?

I can give you an opinion. It is about God's will being fulfilled. God had long term plans that involved David remaining King, and his successor being a child not yet conceived between David and Bathsheba. God is sovereign, and chose to forgive David's sin. He gave him a pardon of sorts where he got to live, but was still punished. The child that died was illegitimate, and would have been a constant reproach and reminder of David's sin. That is why I think it happened as it did.

truly He Is not a respecter or persons. and He can raise up children of Abraham from some rocks.

I am learning there is a lot more to God than what I have heard in church. Thank you all for encouraging everyone to read the Bible, and for answering my questions.
