Certainly, we are not to live like those who are in the world (the land of Egypt (the house of slavery)).
Why?! Because we were called out of it.
"If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth." - Colossians 3:1-2
Friendship with the world, and all that is in it: Idolatry, fornication, envy, uncleanness, sin... And all bad things you can imagine.
Whoever is friend of the world is an enemy of God, no matter who the person is (there is no partiality with God).
"Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." - James 4:4
And we know that no adulterer will inherit the Kingdom of God, as it is written:
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." - 1 Corinthians 6:9-10
But there are people who will tell you: But I was washed, I am now cleaned.
The one who claims to be clean and is not is a liar.
Or you are saying that Jesus has no power to clean our hearts?!
"Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”" - John 13:8
Yes, to clean our hearts, it may seem impossible but He can do it.
"and made no distinction between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith." - Acts 15:9
But if you say: My heart is clean, and yet you keep practicing the evil desires you love... Then you are just deceiving yourself.
"For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man." - Matthew 15:19-20
The way we all should be seeking to live, the way we all should live is like they do in heaven: To love God and one another.
"Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;" - 1 Corinthians 13:4-5
This world is all wrong, people in it just seek to live for themselves. They do not care about others, and much less God.
"Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." - Acts 2:38
Love does not seek its own, if God is holy then we should seek and desire to be holy as He is Holy.
We should deny ourselves, kill our flesh and surrender to His Spirit.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law." - Galatians 5:22-23
"It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." - John 6:63
Because the carnal mind is an enemy of God.
"So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God." - Romans 8:8
Seek to love the Lord, to love Him... You will have life by doing so! Believe in Him and be happy!
"and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again." - 2 Corinthians 5:15
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:16
"But they were hearing only, “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.” And they glorified God in me." - Galatians 1:23-24
God bless you all in Jesus' name!

Without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). That's practical holiness mind you, not merely positional. The man who is positionally holy because he is in Christ but lives unholy won't remain in Christ, unless he repents. So don't be deceived into thinking you can live as you please because you're safe in Christ, and that you can keep God's word selectively and at your convenience and that it's alright with Him. It is NOT alright with Him; nor will it be well with you if you do this.
The more of God's word we keep (and the more diligently we keep it), the more practically holy we are; and visa versa. The Scriptures (the New Testament in particular)are our instruction in holiness. So keep your eyes on the Lord and your garments white, with clean hands and a good conscience toward God in all things; keep His word, and walk by the Spirit. And encourage and warn your brothers and sisters in Christ to do the same.
John 17:17 Hebrews 2:1-3 Hebrews 6:7-12 Revelation 3:1-4

Amen brother. And it is a matter of the heart....the Blood of Christ cleanses our hearts because iniquity goes deeper than just the outward. When our hearts get cleansed and healed, then we find the outward follows.

Holy, in truth and love... Led by the Spirit of God.
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." - Romans 8:14
And we who believe in Him, we are not of this world... How should we walk here?
"He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked." - 1 John 2:6
God bless you in Jesus' name!

Amen renan . JESUS said the world hates ME , because I expose its deeds as evil . And thus it will hate us too. for by his SPIRIT we walk holy and we expose deeds as evil . And in this more and more all inclusive world , we will be hated only more for saying ONLY JESUS saves and HE is not the minister of sin . For correcting we will be hated more and more . BUT I GOT ALL HOPE and SO DOES ANYONE ELSE WHO LOVES THE LORD and walks HOLY . SO come whatever may against us in time to come , NO FEAR of man , no fear of death , AND THE ONE WHO saved us , WE GOING TO HONOR HIM by BE YE HOLY FOR HE IS HOLY. but the world will hate this more and more as time goes on . But as I said , I GOT MY JOY , cause I GOT MY HOPE and no matter what comes against us WE WIN CAUSE JESUS DONE WON. YEAH sing that song my peoples and remember BE YE HOLY in all manner of conversation , FOR HE IS HOLY .

God bless you all in Jesus' name! Sometimes I will go back and read some of the older threads. This is a very good post with an important message. Jesus does have the power to break the bondages of sin in our lives. Yes, that person that tells you that they no longer go around committing willful sin very well can be telling you the truth. That person that tells you he or she doesn't sin continuously every day of their life may be telling you the truth. It is amazing how little power some think Jesus has. They believe that His blood can deliver you from hell, but they don't believe His grace is sufficient to break the bondages of sin that held you captive before you experienced the new birth.

That is true. You start testifying that Jesus broke the bondages of sin in your life, and you don't sin continuously from the time you get up till the time you go to bed, and people call you a liar. They just can't fathom it, because they sin all the time. What an awful testimony to share with others, telling them you can't go an hour without sinning, and the only time you don't sin is when you are asleep. Who in the world is going to want that? Many sinners live better than that.
