THE AGONY OF DEFEAT AND THE CONFIDENCE OF CHAMPIONS
Nothing that I’ve done in my life prior to my conversion compares to the wondrous things which have occur since my born again from above experience. The things; which God has done through me over years are astounding! Yet there has certainly been times of defeat when I have fallen so low I thought I would never find my way back to the cross and being crucified again. It’s the agony of spiritual defeat; and the self-loathing and shame that comes with it. Yet the bible teaches us that:
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 KJV)
God even uses our failures to make us stronger in him; if we realize the whole scheme of his will for those who fall under conviction when they fail him and then repent and renew their relationship with him. The Lord doesn’t have pleasure in our relapses; yet when we repent he restores us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness.
(38) Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
(39) But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Hebrews 10:38-39 KJV
The justified people live life by faith in God; verses the cowardly that draw back all the way to perdition. Or in other words they draw back to damnable and pernicious ways. In the center of the core of their being they don’t have the confidence of champions; but contrariwise the souls of cowardice!
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. (Habakkuk 2:4 KJV)
Brethren let those of us whom are just overwhelm fear with faith! It is inevitable that we shall fall prey to the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The proverbs tell us that a righteous man may fall seven times but he gets back up. The justified of the Lord; just like the prodigal son eventually come to themselves and realize how empty life is without the Heavenly Father.
Brethren; don’t give up, but instead stand up and give it to the Father who will sustain us even in the midst of the most trying times in our lives. Selah
