BLESSED OR CURSED?
People who quote the scripture “ Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever “ many times do not accept the fact that the character of God has not changed. He is a God of Covenant which has not only promises but terms of conditions for the fulfilling of his Covenant. When we enter into Covenant with God it is a unilateral covenant; He sets the terms we agree to the conditions. If we agree and apply the terms of his covenant we will be blessed, if we agree and disobey the terms of his covenant we will be cursed by our own inaction and compliance. Jeremiah was a major old covenant prophet, he warned the children of Israel concerning their heritage through their covenant with the LORD.
(4) And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, which shall burn for ever.
(5) Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
(6) For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
(7) Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
(8) For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
(9) The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? Jeremiah 17:4-9 KJV
When we falter from our Spiritual Heritage through the Blood of Jesus, we also invoke the wrath of God and we reap what we sow. Notice, God said, Cursed be the person who put trust in man and makes the works of the flesh their strength whose heart has departed from serving the LORD. The new covenant correlation to this same principle is “ He that sows to the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption”. Corruption is a slow erosion of one’s spiritual standing with God. It is a process that leads us to the destruction of our relationship with God and the ability of the enemy to overwhelm us to the point of serving the flesh which divides us from God and others in the body of Christ. In effect we become those whom are dry spiritually and alive carnally. Falling into a place of delusion and spiritual blindness “ inhabiting parched places in a desolate wilderness “.
On the other hand, Blessed is the person who trust in the LORD who keep hope alive, and walk by faith and not by sight. God will establish them, by giving them deep roots which are filled with the substance of the spirit which refreshes the soul and body in times of spiritual drought around them. They shall continue to yield and produce fruit even in the most desolate times. Wow! What an awesome God who is able to sustain us in the midst of evil times, when others who have fallen away have perished, he refreshes, revives, and renews those who keep covenant with him.
Brethren keep the faith today by keeping Covenant with God, don’t be a disobedient son or daughter, but be a faithful servant and co-laborer with those who keep the covenant of God, and then watch as God makes all the promises of the covenant yes and amen through Christ Jesus. I pray that the Spirit of the Living God strength the arm of the Lord in your life, and brings you to a maturity which yields much fruit to the Kingdom of God and of Christ our LORD. Selah!
Shalom, Agape, & Amen!
