one thing i want caution you on... and i am not saying you are doing this ok. am not saying this at all... but something to think about, meditate on. And i do this for myself too and it helps to keep me in check.
Jer 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
sometimes we can try to justify what is right by what situation has brought, how we are wronged, and even by scripture. sometimes we think we are right. thinking is not a fruit of the spirit. nor is self justification. we must be led of The Spirit. Just because we are wronged does not relieve our obligation to Gods commands. when we are at that place where we question... is this the right thing to do or is this wrong because of.... often times we think we are right. BUT... the Spirit will show us when we seek Him we are wrong, and most times its something we know from either experience or scripture that we did not even consider or factor in to the matter. God knows we forget stuff. and He is not shy about correcting us as needed. Sometimes the thing He will command us to do tears at our heart and its the last thing we really want to do. sometimes in our heart we can be angry about what God tells us, and it seems its unfair. Well, it may be unfair but i cant recall a scripture where it says thus saith The LORD, it shall be fair. whats important is that even when its unfair to us that we honor what God tells us... and its then that God sees and will exalt you... because you humble yourself.
I am saying this because you asked the question but didnt Rahab... are you, and you do not need to answer this, but are you trying to justify your actions to absolve yourself from your responsibility to God? If you are not doing that and you are really just curious great. and for the record i do not care to judge you, I am saying this to potentially help you/others. You really do need to seek Gods face for wisdom in this matter because in Jer 17:9 it does ask who can know it?... God does. and He will tel it like it is every time.
I would also encourage you to ask God for a vocabulary and wisdom on how to deal with your mother/others.
It may also not be a bad idea to monitor your symptoms. if you need to go back then maybe you should. I know its not the same topic but i do this with my acid reflux. when it flares up i take medicine. when it goes away, i watch what i eat and dont take medicine. it comes back, i take some medicine and get things balanced again and so on.
Legit indeed. and so i worded very carefully. I did not think she had sinned when i posted, but on the off chance i wanted to mention it about the questioning part.
I think, i say again i think lying is sinful when we try to decieve someone for wrong motives. i base this on scripture you mentioned and in acts with Ananias and Sapphira. there is a big difference in motives.
I think lying is a sin when we try to deceive someone for dishonest gain, or to mess them up based on untruthful data.
when a woman asks a man... does this dress make me look fat? is the motive here love? does the bible not tell men to guard his words with his woman and not tell her everything?
I think there are times when the complete truth would tear someone down unnecessarily.
my original post wasnt directed at oh you sinned... but as a reminder for us to continually be judging our motives and examining our heart.
