I looked up a passage, Exodus 32:32 where Moses asks God to blot him out of the book of Life to spare the Israelites.
I was so annoyed by some of the commentaries saying "oh we mustn't think Moses was actually willing to lose his salvation."
But isn't it clear that he was? Just like Paul expressed similar wishes?
Why do some of these scholars Dodge obvious things? Osas?

I was so annoyed by some of the commentaries saying "oh we mustn't think Moses was actually willing to lose his salvation." But isn't it clear that he was? Just like Paul expressed similar wishes? Why do some of these scholars Dodge obvious things? Osas? I don't use commentaries because of things like you just mentioned. Why do they say things like that? I can think of a couple of possible reasons.
1. They will go out of their way to make the Bible agree with their doctrine. You really see that with those who are promoting unconditional security. They have concocted some of the craziest interpretations of portions of the Bible I have ever seen. Of course Moses was saying that he was willing to lose his own salvation. It is also true that God actually is able and did blot names out of his book that were originally in it.
2. The other reason they will go against the obvious and correct meaning is so they won't say things that will turn people away from God. They think that the truth is too hard to handle. It is like where God says he hardened Pharaoh's heart. They will change this to mean that Pharaoh hardened his own heart so God isn't responsible.
I get annoyed with this kind of thing too.

People are really married to the osas doctrine.
I just revisited Worthy forums for the first time in months.
If it weren't for Frienduff and a couple of others, it would just be people shouting eternal security, faith alone, all day and night.
It made me really sad.

They are about indoctrinating people into that belief.
