Matthew 25:14-30. THE PARABLE OF THE TALENTS
Brethren; salvation is free; but it does not come without responsibilities! When we come into the Kingdom of Heaven we live among the kingdoms of men; yet our responsibilities are spiritual! We are saved, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost and endowed with spiritual, intellectual, and physical gifts. These endowments are for the purposes of God and to bring an increase to the Kingdom of Heaven.
(14) For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.
(15) And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey. Matthew 25:14-15
Gospel life is prolific and powerful enhancing us spiritually; life is a diverse sphere with many opportunities for the gifts of God to multiply in the hands of a wise and faithful servant. God’s gifts are given for his purposes to flourish and our purposes to diminish. Time, intellect, virtue, spirituality, and influence are gifts which expand the kingdom of God when given to an ambitious servant.
We cannot afford to leave undone what we have the capacity to accomplish. We must develop a mindset of productivity and procedures which bring profit to the kingdom of God. We must remember whoever God calls he gifts them and equips them especially to the task before them. We have been given privileges to improve; therefore we must prepare our hearts to harness the earnestness of honesty in our commission to multiply and prosper in spiritual things. We see in the parable of the talents the diversity and degrees of giving; it is not because God is unrighteous or inequitable! He is no respect of persons. He does however respect the different degrees of ability and more importantly faith. Our innermost being lays bare before his piercing supernatural eyes.
Trust is generated through the faithfulness of a servant; without faith it has been established one cannot please God. Our view of God is important! When we see him as Almighty; but loving and gracious we take joy in our service to him. We understand that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Hence; when our faith is great our service will reflect it. The good and faithful servant understands that service isn’t about self; but for God and others to increase the kingdom of God by bringing glory to God.
(20) And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
(21) His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
(22) He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
(23) His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord. Matthew 25:20-23
That good and faithful servant becomes industrious; he learns while he earns more experience and more wisdom, he uses to overcome the diverse difficulties which oppose the work. He doesn’t settle for ordinary success but uses his talents for extraordinary works; he looks for opportunity to do kingdom business doing the most good for others and getting more virtuous in return; apt to learn and to teach and to endure difficulties for King and the Kingdom. His heart is in the hands of the King’s and the King turns it in the direction of his will and purposes. This person shall prosper in all his ways. Spiritually, Intellectually, Physically, Socially, and Financially.
For to everyone who has profited the kingdom, more shall be given to them and they will have abundance. But the one who does not profit the kingdom, even what they have will be taken away from them. Matthew 25:29 paraphrase (mine)
Each person has at the least one ability or talent which has been allotted to us. We cannot to be like the unprofitable servant who took his talent and buried it. Hence; he buried his ability in his heart and refused to use it to increase the profits of the King. Many today in the body of Christ know the ability they have hidden in their heart but fail to use it. God’s gifts are prolific; but they must be utilized to prosper. When one is lethargic concerning their gift(s) God will ultimately render it useless and give them to someone that will prosper more through receiving them.
(27) Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
(28) Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
(29) For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
(30) And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 25:27-30
Brethren; what are you doing with the gifts of God? We are living in volatile times we are seeing the perils of destruction around the world. We are seeing diverse diseases plaguing man; the disruption in nature and wars and rumors of wars. We are seeing that the world is united in its hatred of Israel and the spiritual construction of the Old Roman Empire which is manifesting itself in the appearance of the European Union. There is the secrecy of the development by many in the United Nations to bring forth a One World Government. Again; I ask! What are you doing with the gifts of God? Will Jesus find you faithful or fearful? Will you be spiritually profitable or spiritually impoverished when he comes? Heaven and Hell weigh in the balance not only for you but for those who can be won into the Kingdom of Heaven. Selah!
Keep the Faith and the Faith will keep you!
