God is relational.
He has emotions like we do. He experiences pleasure, wrath, jealousy, anger, compassion, mercy--- a full range.
When we seek God's Face, we learn to understand not only knowledge about Him, but how He operates and feels about things
He hates sin. Hates wickedness, oppression, and hypocrisy.
He loves righteousness. He is moved by faith. He loves the humble and helpless. He is tenderhearted toward the powerless. He is fiercely protective of them.
The more power a human has, the more He expects Righteousness. The burden of responsibility increases with authority.
He loves peace and justice. He loves mercy.
He is beautiful. To know Him is to adore Him. His goodness at times, is overwhelming.
He is both good and severe. He will not leave the guilty unpunished.
He doesn't hold grudges after repentance. Ezekiel says if a wicked man repents and does righteousness, his righteousness will save him.
He is jealous. He wants to be first. Because He alone deserves that spot. He cares so much and gives His best, no substitute can even come close to the excellence of His Lordship.
He has understandable wrath. I would've wiped us all out a while ago.
He often mocks idols. He really hates them. He laughs at the calamity of the wicked. He sets His face against them.
He desires that none perish. But His patience has a limit.
Still, He is slow to anger.
I could go on but my point is God is a personal, Holy Being, not simply a theological concept or theory. Many people are going to be good at theology and fail to know God.
To know God is to be like Him.
