A verse that had a heavy impact on me in the last two or so years is Ezekiel 18:27
Ezekiel 18:27 King James Version 27 Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.
When I felt condemned to die in my guilt and shame, this verse literally pulled me out of it. I had this "aha" moment like,
"Wow. God doesn't desire me to stay guilty and beat myself up, He just wants me to turn around and do good."
Unfortunately this kind of clear message wasn't the kind of message I was used to hearing.
I was used to hearing a confusing litany of messages about grace and forgiveness.
One woman insisted the key was that we should just hurry up and realize God forgives us for all sins, past, present, and future, and therefore is already pleased with our Christian performance.
Another man popular on the radio taught this unconditional grace where you could sin every day and "God's not mad at you."
But if God was pleased, then where was my Galatians 5 fruit of the Spirit and why did I feel such a sense of worthlessness and depression. Surely serving the Lord was meant to be a joy?
Learning to walk in righteousness and getting rid of sin in my life, fully giving my life to Christ every day, lead me to a joyful awareness of the presence of God. His smile means everything to me and I never want to walk in confusion about how to please Him again.
Anyway, what are some verses that have had a heavy impact on you and your walk with Christ?

... One woman insisted the key was that we should just hurry up and realize God forgives us for all sins, past, present, and future, and therefore is already pleased with our Christian performance. Another man popular on the radio taught this unconditional grace where you could sin every day and "God's not mad at you." ... Unfortunately, those people are missing the mark. There is joy out of sin.
God cares about how we walk, and much more now that we are His.
❝For you were bought at a price;
therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.❞ - 1 Corinthians 6:20
Christ's sacrifice frees us, and not desiring to walk in that freedom saddens God. And if He is sad, it is not OK.
Each Christian has their level of maturity in Christ, and God will not require them to walk in a level they have not attained.
But God will exhort you to reach the next level, because He loves you and He wants you to reach the next level.
❝...to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.❞ - Philippians 3:16
People have to learn that there is a way out of their sin, and that it is possible to become better each day.
❝For if you live according to the flesh you will die;
but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.❞ - Romans 8:13
And I am here to remember.
❝If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother,
wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.❞ - Luke 14:26
You are now in Christ. God does not see you as a hopeless sinner anymore.
He knows of the potential you have in Christ.
❝I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.❞ - Philippians 4:13
❝Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free,
and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.❞ - Galatians 5:1
Blessings!

Blessings!Thank you for quoting Scripture in your posts and thank you for pointing out my potential in Christ! I could go on about the confusion I got into trying to follow certain Christian leaders and the doctrines they had. They seemed to promote this idea that the normal Christian struggles with the same sins day after day and that repentance wasn't changing but just acknowledging that you sinned every day. Almost like you were had a jump rope that represented the motions of confessing and repentance, only you knew that rope would come right back around because we are that powerless against sin. The message was that believing grace covered your sin was the key to victory, not getting rid of that sin to walk in righteousness. All I had to do was read through Galatians once to make all of that false teaching fall down. The problem now is that people are so married to their doctrines of grace, they don't want to consider anything else even if its straight from the Bible.

FOR the grace of GOD which brings salvation has appeared to all , TEACHING US to DENY UNGODLINESS , aka SIN ....................... to be living how , RIGHTESOULY godly and soberly IN this present world . Sound like they playing hop scotch over hot coals sister . and that means they gonna get burnt .
