More and more of Jesus
means less and less of me;
Dying daily to myself,
so more like Him to be;
Taking captive every thought,
submitting all my will,
That He may live His life through me,
and all of me may fill.
To be an ever-brighter lamp---
a vessel clean and pure---
The holy Light of Jesus
let none of me obscure.
More of Heaven; less of earth;
this is my soul's desire,
Though the price be sacrifice,
and being purged by fire;
Though it come with loneliness,
with sorrow, and a cross,
There is no gain but more of Christ;
all other gain is loss.
As long as I may run my course,
my daily prayer shall be:
"More and more of You, O Lord,
and less and less of me."
For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. (2 Corinthians 4:11)

Very nice. We should all be striving to die to self and become more like Jesus.

Amen. Such sentiments unfortunately have become trite and are often phony, but they should absolutely be as sincere for any of us as they were for the apostle Paul. And there's a big difference between simply memorizing and repeating something someone else said and it actually being true of oneself. Memorizing and echoing Scripture doesn't make it true of us. This poem is very much true of me, and I wish it were true of all of my brothers and sisters in Christ.
