I've had some success in helping Christians see chastening. It isn't easy (and it's downright impossible with the seeker crowd) but it can be done. In my experience, people change when they understand how destructive their behavior is. Repentance "because the Bible said so" doesn't last long. The Holy Spirit must open their eyes to conviction. We can't make the Holy Spirit do this, but we can till the soil with some humble, compassionate discussion and Bible study. (This is not to say anyone here is doing it wrong. I'm just speaking generally.) what is seeker crowd?

A seeker is a sinner out in the world who might visit a church because he has started to "seek" for God. Some churches try to get them in the building by any means necessary (loud rock music, free food, marketing gimmicks) in the hope that the gospel will touch them. This is called a seeker-friendly church. Unfortunately, when you use fleshly attraction to invite people, you're just entertaining their flesh. The gospel can't work alongside flesh exhibits. So then the pastor waters down his message to keep them coming back.
The seeker crowd are those who think church is a rock concert followed by a prosperity inspirational message.
