Yes, be ready. Be ready for every good work. And all kind of them.
"Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work..." - Titus 3:1
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:10
Then how people come and say:
You must not focus on good works as we are not saved by works.
And I say, then what should we do after we have came to the knowledge of Christ?!
Should we focus on evil works?! Certainly NOT.
Should we focus on good works?! Certainly YES.
Then how there are people who come and say:
Do not focus on good works. You are not saved by works.
Certainly, we are not saved by works. What kind of good works you can do in the flesh?
"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells..." - Romans 7:18
"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are:
adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery,
hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions,
dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like..." - Galatians 5:19-21
"And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified,
but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God." - 1 Corinthians 6:11
"But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works
of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us..." - Titus 3:4-5
"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people,
that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light..." - 1 Peter 2:9
My friend, to me is clear that after you are saved by Christ there is nothing you should focus to do except good works (unless you have believed in vain).
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." - Romans 12:2
"Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord..." - Hebrews 12:14
"For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality;
that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor..." - 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven." - Matthew 5:16
Then I ask those people, what should we focus on after coming to Christ?
Good works, or evil works? Please, choose one (1).
Please, answer me.
But if you are undecided or going to say:
No good and no evil, but a balance between the two.
And I say:
How is that?! You have no answer for such a simple question.
"But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’
For whatever is more than these is from the evil one." - Matthew 5:37
And the Lord says:
"So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither
cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth." - Revelation 3:16
Make a decision, for no one can serve two masters... As it is written:
"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the
one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one
and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." - Matthew 6:24
"He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad." - Matthew 12:30
"And Elijah came to all the people, and said,
How long will you falter between two opinions?
If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." - 1 Kings 18:21
"And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work." - Revelation 22:12
Now, I will talk about a good work fewer and fewer people are interested in... Sanctification.
"And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the Lord who sanctifies you." - Leviticus 20:8
One can only be sanctified by the Spirit of the Lord... Nothing else can sanctify you in truth, because only He is Holy.
"Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth." - John 17:17
"For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one,
for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren..." - Hebrews 2:11
And people who are in the flesh cannot understand or pursue sanctification (in truth).
Only when the Spirit of the Lord comes to live in them they are able to pursue it (in truth).
How come people go and say:
I hate this and that.
But when no one is watching the first thing this one does is to do that very same thing he condemned.
"But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’
and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards..." - Matthew 24:48-49
And I ask you, if the Lord comes and you are sinning like that... What will your end be?!
"the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him,
and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion
with the unbelievers." - Luke 12:46
"Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord...
And then I will declare to them,
‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’" - Matthew 7:23
"Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming." - Matthew 24:42
"But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say?" - Luke 6:46
"Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching..." - Luke 12:37
Then, make a decision and yes, follow, follow good works, especially sanctification. It is a commanded of the Lord.
"...Blessed are all those who wait for Him." - Isaiah 30:18
"And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure." - 1 John 3:3
Good OR evil, that is all you can choose. Choose good and have life.
"...those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and
those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation." - John 5:29
"eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;" - Romans 2:7
"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." - Colossians 3:17
"...he who endures to the end shall be saved." - Matthew 24:13
"Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?
Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?" - Psalm 94:16
Blessings, blessings to you in Jesus' name!
