When the Bible says observers of times are bad, is that like following a horoscope?

Is it a sin to follow your horoscope?

It is the same thing and it is sinful. We need to follow Jesus, not the zodiac.

For most everyone, since it is "not of faith", it is sin to ever even look for those false predictions, and a sin to read them, even if they are someone else's or "just to compare" as if there could be ever anything good from the enemy, not of faith, nor from the Father in Heaven. Is it a sin to follow your horoscope?

Note a few references concerning this, (or did you mean something else by "observers of times" ) ? What does it mean when the Bible forbids being an "observer ... Today we could call them a "fortune teller". It has nothing to do with being a historian. The Amplified Bible translates the same phrase as "a soothsayer". The NIV translates it as "interprets omens" and the Message Bible says "fortune teller". Observers in the Bible (9 instances) [Search domain bible.knowing-jesus.com/words/Observers] bible.knowing-jesus.com/words/Observers"'This is what the sovereign Lord says: On the day it went down to Sheol I caused observers to lament. I covered it with the deep and held back its rivers; its plentiful water was restrained. I clothed Lebanon in black for it, and all the trees of the field wilted because of it. Or, an observer of the clouds or heavens, one that divineth by the motions of the clouds, by the stars, or by the flying or chattering of birds, all which Heathens used to observe. @rejoice... I'm not sure if you are reading along with us through the Bible but the Book of Deuteronomy says a lot about these types of things.

I always liked reading my horoscope, but I saw that about observing time. I'm reading with you all. Thank you for the replies. I'll stop reading the horoscopes.

There are so many things, like horoscopes, that people don't even know are bad. Nobody ever mentions it. There was a time, back in the 80s, when I used to follow the horoscope in the TV Guide every week. I didn't know it was wrong to do that. That is one of the benefits of reading the Bible straight through. You learn new things. I am glad you are still reading along with us.

HOW DID YOU LEARN , WHERE DID YOU FIND this info that showed your were in error . ready ……………….one , two , three . Ever wonder why Paul told timothy of the dire need of knowing the HOLY SCRIPS and how they can make you wise unto salvation through faith IN CHRIST . exactly . OH let the bible be both read and loved and loved and read only more . let all lambs hunger for it and feast upon the milk of the word , as a baby lamb its mothers teets , that they may grow thereby .

I used to read the horoscope just to see what it said, not to follow it necessarily, but once it is in your head, it might influence you without you knowing it. It is best not to even glance at it.

if someone asked me what my sign was i probably wont tell them. will they think its rude? probably. but i avoid it when people talk about that. i heard my mom talk about signs with someone the other day. i guess she was trying to be firendly but i think thats compromising.

In my mind, horoscopes are in the same category as fortune-tellers and psychics.
Avoid, avoid, avoid.

All these years, I never knew there was anything in the Bible that said horoscopes were bad. I need to go back and read through the Bible. Why is it nobody preaches about things like this?

If you will start right now, and read 4 chapters per day, you can go through the entire Bible before the end of the year. You can't count on others to tell you everything in scripture. We are living in a day where most preachers won't even talk about individual sins. They get labeled as "things" preachers and other derogatory names. Everyone needs to read the Bible for themselves. I would highly recommend that you use an Authorized King James Version Bible.

I think that is good. If you refuse to even go so far as to tell someone your sign, it shows you aren't willing to compromise at all with anything resembling occult practices.
