I noticed in your statement of faith that you believe in using the King James Bible. Is it really better than the other versions? I want to use a version I can trust. I think the Bible I have is New King James. Is that different? I was told they just made it more up to date, like not having the thees and thous.

The New King James is different than the Authorized King James but I don't know how much. I would recommend going with the original, not the new one.

There are differences besides updating the language. You will get used to the old English pretty fast if you read the Authorized King James Bible, and it is well worth the effort for accuracy..

I have never bought one single bible. The ones i have had and used were all given to me... if i had to guess, given to me by God. He started me out on a paraphrase version, and progressed thru different versions until the one i have now which is a KJV. had it the longest of all the others. The KJV is the most reliable from my experience and years and years of in depth studies which include various bible scholars writings. every single bible ever given to me that was "my bible" was the one God spoke to me out of, and this is whats important... relationship with God.
if you read the KJV and you are confused and left asking... "what saith thou" you will need to do a lot of studying and looking up words before your reading connects with understanding and its fluid. i honestly recommend praying and asking God to lead you to what bible you need and what study material... however, i also recommend the end game being to learn and transition to KJV. NKJ is not bad. there are other versions which can help you to understand, but ultimately let the KJV be the final say on what it says and what to believe. lots of newer versions popping up lately... and also lots of newer teachings that do not jive with hundreds and hundreds of years of whats been taught. be very careful as there are even devil worshippers trying to re-wright the bible and they want to change it. there are many in the church that are inwardly ravenous wolves who desire to redefine what grace, repentance, and other things are that matter when considering your eternity.
kjv is legit as it gets. the NIV has hundreds and hundreds of omissions of things that hold significant spiritual meaning.

Personally, I won't use anything but the Authorized KJV Bible or a 1611 Edition KJV Bible. The only differences in those two is that the 1611 Edition used old English spelling as well as language, uses Roman numerals and includes the 14 books of the Apocrypha in the middle. The text of the 66 books of the canon is the same except for spelling. I fully trust the Authorized KJV Bible for absolute accuracy. If I had to use a modern translation, I would use the NKJV, but you would be better off to start out with the Authorized version.

The Authorized King James Bible is not that hard to get used to, and it is worth the effort for reliability. Most of the new translations remove some of the verses and they also change things.

Thank you all. I'll get a regular KJV Bible before we go through it. If the others are off at all, I don't want to use them.

Hello everyone. I bought a regular King James Bible and am reading Psalms in it. So far, I haven't found it that hard to read. Anyway, I am ready for December when you start through the Bible again. Blessings for all you do.

Hello all at Narrow Way. I am with you all so far in Genesis, and adjusting to the old King James. In the creation, was God naming this planet earth, or just calling the dry land earth? The way it was worded, I couldn't tell? If I have other questions about what we are reading, is it ok to post them in this thread?

The Bible doesn't refer to earth as being a planet. Scientists have been lying to us.

And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good."

The Bible says that God called the dry land earth and the waters seas. It is like everyone just assumes that this planet was named "Earth." It really makes you think, in regard to how one day there will be a new heaven and a new earth. If it is not saying a new planet, but a new earth, it comes across more like a renovation, which is what I believe it will be.
