I am reminded of Peter, and how when he got scared, he denied the Lord 3 times, even to the point of cursing. The Bible states that if we deny Jesus, he will deny us before the Father in heaven. At that moment, Peter was lost, but thankfully, in His great mercy, the Lord had the disciples call for him after His resurrection, and Peter was truly converted. After that, there was no more denying Jesus, ever. Tradition says that Peter was crucified upside down for his faith. I really like the accounts of Peter in the bible....we can learn a lot as well as be encouraged by them. He blew it a few times, but was so whole-hearted.....he's the only disciple who dared walking on water. And it's interesting that Peter was also the only disciple who it was recorded got tested in the way of denying Jesus. It was a bit like Job, because Satan had asked to sift him....seems Peter had attracted the devil's notice. I doubt that the Lord forsook him any more than He forsook Job. Where it talks in scripture about having a perfect heart towards God it means whole-hearted in our pursuit of Him, as Peter was, not that believers are perfectly sinless or never make mistakes along the way.

When the angel spoke of the resurrection of Jesus, he said the following, in Mark 16:6-7...
Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you.
The angel made a distinction between the disciples and Peter at that point.
Something else too . Notice peter had denied JESUS three times . Notice , later , that JESUS asked him THREE times , Lovest thou me peter , and to feed my sheep . I never thought of that.

Yes sister . let us seek the LORD with all of our heart , soul and mind . Yes indeed . Amen. And we can always seek to do better....we never stop growing and learning because God prunes even the fruitful branches. Something the Lord was gracious to teach me, is that one way we learn and grow is to be confronted by our weakness and mistakes....and it is the Lord who leads us to, when He allows Satan to test us. It was the Lord who drew the devil's attention to Job. It's not to condemn us but so that we will a) learn our need and b) seek Him for what we have need of. We are going from glory to glory. And struggle is necessary, that's why the Lord allows it....thinking of how butterflies need to fight their way out of the cocoon themselves, but if someone comes along and removes the cocoon for it, the butterfly will not be able to fly. (I forget the details but I think it's because it's juices or blood need to get squeezed into its wings.) Battling and seeking is just necessary for us, it's how we grow stronger and learn to "fly" or walk better, so to speak.

GOD ONLY PRUNES the branches that bear fruit . those who dont , are cast out . GOD will work on and chasten all who ARE HIS . EVERY ONE whom HE recieves shall be chastend . Beleive me , i know . this last year has been one SUFFERING year . OH , did i say suffering . YES I DID . I have suffered this last year Big time . But its hard to tell ...........WITH ALL THE PRAISING TO THE KING . HE IS WITH ME SISTER , no matter WHAT I SUFFER . THE GOOD LORD GIVETH , AND HE TAKETH AWAY . BUT HE DOES IT FOR the GOOD of those WHO LOVE HIM . JOB suffered NOT IN VAIN . IT WAS FOR HIS GOOD . I PROMISE IT WAS .

I understand where you are coming from watchful, and I was not meaning what I said as a rebuke of your comment or anything like that. I was just pointing out what Jesus said. Many things Jesus said are difficult, if we really take them at face value. In one place, the people heard his saying and departed from him saying that it was too hard, who can hear it? Over the past week, I have had to look at the scriptures in a different way. I have always taken the Bible as the inerrant Word of God, and have always said that if it said something, it was right, and if we disagree, we are wrong, but even I have failed to take it at face value in certain circumstances. I mean, if we do not forgive, will Jesus really not forgive us, even if we are Christians? If we deny Jesus, will he really deny us to the Father? That is what He said.

Sometimes we can be too quick to draw a line around what we think we know and miss out on understanding things further....what the bible calls HIDDEN treasures. So SEEK and we will find.

It seems like he is being very straight forward in what he said. It is the same way with if we are ashamed of him before the Father, he will be ashamed of us. If you do see something hidden in this that I am missing, I would love to know what it is?

Well, for example in this case, that Satan desired to sift Peter and how that was like Job, and the fact that Jesus prayed Peter's faith would not fail, so did it? Questions such as whether being denied before the Father and not being forgiven by the Father applies at the judgment or during the person's lifetime...and if it's during one's lifetime, what is God's intention for the person, and how would it play out in their life. There is more to be mined with these things. Hidden treasure is scriptural in itself.....it certainly doesn't nullify scripture but it can give us a fuller picture and understanding of scripture and of God. What does this scripture mean, that if we think we know we do not yet know as we ought?

Remember what JESUS also told peter , AND WHEN thou ART CONVERTED ..................aka PETER was gonna have to repent and be restored . CONVERTED TO FAITH IN JESUS . JESUS KNEW this was all gonna happen . HE told peter , HE was gonna fail , BUT WHEN he was CONVERTED , aka repented and turned BACK TO FAITH IN JESUS . SO JESUS also knew peter was gonna repent . Cause we have too . If any fails , they must repent . Brethren , if any of you does ERR from truth and one CONVERTS HIM BACK , exactly . Good thing peter did not just die in that state of unrepentance , or he would have been DENIED . BUT JESUS KNEW all things . Peter came back , BY Grace led to repentance , and came back STRONGER in the SPIRIT than ever . OH i know you already KNOW all of this . But i felt reminders are good for us all .
