Sometime back, I was researching the history of women wearing pants, and came across a book review that was interesting and is still online. The book is called "Women In Pants: Manly Maidens, Cowgirls And Renegades." They are secularists, so with no regard for the sinfulness, they can call a spade a spade. They are calling women cross dressers that wore the same style clothes women do today, and admitting it makes them look manly. They are masculine style clothes. The author thinks it is great women are free to cross dress today, and wishes men had the same freedom to wear anything they choose. I have a lot of information on this topic.

I do feel different when I wear skirts and dresses. I feel more attractive! I saw two Mennonite couples on the pier the other day and the women looked elegant and regal. But I don't want to attract attention in every situation, like on the city bus... Sometimes I feel safer "uglifying" myself and blending in. It's tricky on my conscience these days. When I was with the that Pentecostal cult, all I wore we're skirts and dresses. But the meanest women seemed to be the ones that most strictly enforced this rule. I'm like, what good is that long skirt if you're mean as a snake? For all that, I'd rather wear my pants sometimes and not act all snooty. I don't see it as snooty, but being a light in a world of darkness. I mean, would most women like it if their husband wanted to go around wearing a flowery skirt or house dress every so often so as not to be snooty? I never understood that. To me, pants pertain to a man, and a dress pertains to a woman. That is why you have those symbols to indicate the men's and women's restroom. Which pertains to who? I won't even listen to women complain about cross dressing men if they wear pants. That is why I had an issue with Concerned Women For America, though they were right about what the book was promoting.
I think the problem is that you're comparing apples to oranges. Women have always been able to get away with a variety of clothing styles. Men simply have a narrower spectrum of clothes that look "masculine". Some men only have like two shirts and two pairs of pants. That would drive me crazy! But by your logic, because its very masculine to care little about clothing variety, women should only be allowed to wear less than ten items of clothes! Imagine telling the Concerned Women that! They'd be very concerned indeed --- with your judgement!

If it is okay for women to dress in men's fashions, why shouldn't boys dress like a girl?
What is to stop women from having a dozen dresses and skirts? Why do they need to dress like a guy?

Because not just anyone can be a lady. It takes a lot of work AND it has to look natural. Men just don't have what it takes to pull it off. I think it's wrong for men to be effeminate too. But even more, it just seems gross and out of place. Like a 300 pound gorilla wearing neon pink lipstick.

This thread asks why girls want to be like a guy, and you said you don't get it. I believe it is Satan's war on all things feminine, and he has been successful, especially with clothing.

I do see a lot of very inspiring movements to celebrate modest beauty. Especially with these Pinterest and Instagram bloggers. Hey, my favorite ones tend to be Pentecostal Holiness anyway! They look so pretty, I have to take a break or I'll be guilty of envy and coveting. I can't afford a ton of beautiful and modest fashionista outfits. But that's okay, cause I'm a thrift store fashionista! Lol

What if looking tomboyish or crossdressing turns your spouse on?

i think a big part of it is when a man tries to be feminine or a woman tries to be masculine. thats where Gods order is perverted. and that is a glimpse of whats going on the inside of someones heart. I do not think there should be a dress code, but there are somethings thats off limits. everyone has different parameters on where those limits lay. some do not think women should wear pants ever. to me its ok if they are not trying to look like a man and they do make pants for women that are feminine... AND modest. take for instance the scripture its a shame for a man to have long hair... well, whats long? men in biblical days wore their hair longer than most do today. I used to have hair that was considered long, i guess. it was to the middle of my chest. the hair style was a mohawk but i didnt spike it up i let it hang. to me a mans hair isnt long at this length. if it was way down the back like to your waist, to me this is long and thats my idea of a womans hair... like the 80's rock bands... thats long hair for a man to me. i keep my hair cut military style now. high and tight. but anyway i was close to God then. nothing condemned me in my heart. i do not think i would grow it back that long again but only because i have become accustomed to short hair. here is something to consider concerning the title of this thread Gen 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
women want to rule from a fallen antichrist spirit influenced world/nature. the enemy perverts everything pertaining to God.
Nobody really knows how long your average man's hair was in Bible times in Israel. There are pictures they claim to be Jesus, but nobody really knows what he looked like. The way I see the hair length issue, it is a New Testament teaching, so it should matter to everyone. If I was having to describe a man to a sketch artist, and he asked about his hair, I would be able to tell him if it was long or short or shoulder length, which is somewhere in between, like lukewarm. People know it when they see it.
actually i think there is a way we can know, and after doing a little research i think what i have thought about hair length may be incorrect. i looked at lots of greek statutes, and other various ancient cultures. i looked at pictures too and filtered thru the lens of is this a picture thats modern and what people think it was like back then... the men had short hair. the longest i could find was shoulder length or a little longer, but most was short. and those are few compared to the shorter hair styles.

What if looking tomboyish or crossdressing turns your spouse on? I was thinking in terms of how God looks at it. There are strange people out there.

I just came back from the deli and I saw a woman in there wearing man's shorts and a man's singlet (the type truck drivers wear) and boots. She had her head shaved and I thought about our conversation. I could tell from behind that she was a woman because a woman's body is different from a man's and I can tell the difference....., so this woman wearing man's clothes really stood out that she wanted to appear masculine. As for men wearing woman's jeans or pants it would be very hard because each are designed to fit the male or female body. Men's hips are higher, and women's lower. A man's bottom is lower and a woman's higher. So clothes are tailored to fit the gender. A woman can wear man's jeans however, but they don't fit right. They would have to be bigger in my opinion or she wouldn't fit her hips in there.

and its done got to where if you say thats sick or wrong your just a homophobe or a hater. oh well, guess i am a bigot, because thats disgusting. and they talk like a girl and you can tell they are drama queens.
these two men have their own make up line of products they market. one is from the UK and i forgot where the other is. the other one dresses feminine too.
the word glam/glamour keeps popping up in their videos too.
ok im done. i dont want to speak on this anymore. its to early in the morning for effeminate stuff.
