This is a difficult topic. So many are divorced and remarried. A preacher was saying 70 % of Christians have been divorced.

Thanks for sharing that Dezi. I do want to ask you one thing. When you say you were never married in God's eyes, do you mean because the marriage was illegitimate because your ex was in adultery?
I want to encourage you in one thing. If you repented of the adulterous marriage, that sin stain is washed away. You don't have to live in guilt and shame over what God has forgiven, but you may have to live with earthly consequences.
Yes John... My ex was never truly released from his marriage to his first wife. He cheated on her but she didn't ask to be free of the marriage... he did. At any rate the marriage should not have been terminated based on what I know. It was because he wanted to move on and find "the right" person. I met him at church as a 20 year old. The church I was attending was against us getting married it seemed but yet they had hired a Singles minister and counselor at the church who was divorced himself... therefore they really could not say it was wrong. Nobody explained anything to me... not even the Pastor of the church that married us. My parents didn't teach me the Word of God and since I had not studied it myself I didn't understand. Him marrying me was a sin... we both committed adultery. Even though I was ignorant of my actions there is a consequence to sin in the spirit realm as Demons do not care why a sin is committed. They still wreak havoc in your life if a spiritual principle has been broken. I feel that this may be why my healing never came. I was also molested by a married man when I was a child. I think that may have been an open door for an "adultery" spirit to enter my life. It was during the molestation that I started having PCOS symptoms. I am quite sure that is how that infirmity came in to me. I do not feel I am bound to that marriage for any reason. I just don't know what God thinks is ok for me now. I will pray on this for a long time yet.

I do have to wonder about a church that would not explain what the Bible teaches about divorce.

Yes... and that was a Church of God church. I stand in amazement that I was never taught this during that time. I just had people attacking me at church and spreading rumors... so for a young person that was ignorant it was very hard to endure and I turned to my ex cause I felt abandoned... not the right thing to do but it's what I did. I know I didn't marry him for right reasons either. I was living in a lot of fear and looking for someone to care for me. Our emotions can sure get us into a lot of trouble. I am learning that our feelings mean nothing... it's what God's Word says.

When you are married there is nothing that ends the marriage in God's eyes... ...So, there is no real grounds for divorce... ...We are never supposed to divorce period... Exactly.
"...Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts,
permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so." - Matthew 19:8

I'm in total agreement with you! I think remarriage is only bringing in another level of sin. We see what it does to children... this is why!

I think a good thing to do, would be to maybe start a thread, to were we examine each of the verses carefully, because a whole lot of opinions are being given here, and to actually quote scriptures for the many things we say.
And I am not saying no scriptures are being mentioned, but some things are being said without giving scriptural evidence.

And I am not saying no scriptures are being mentioned, but some things are being said without giving scriptural evidence. You are right that I didn't give scriptures to what the Holy Spirit has revealed to me. I have read many scriptures on this subject as well as just finishing up the Old Testament. I feel what I said is basically a summary of what I get out of what I've read. You can throw out any scriptures you want to contradict what I've said. The thing is I know in my spirit it's truth. I have not read a scripture yet that makes me think anything different. I don't have many scriptures memorized and I don't have a photographic memory... to the contrary my memory is very badly messed up from the medications I have taken and have come off of. I have had to rely a lot on Holy spirit to reveal his truths to me. But, if anyone feels I am wrong then they are more than welcome to post the scriptures to counter what I've said.
