I am in agreement with what Giller and frienduff wrote. Faith without works is dead, as the Bible says so, but the flip side of that coin is that works without faith is also dead. Acts tells us that there is no other name given whereby we must be saved outside of Jesus Christ. Works based salvation where it is works plus nothing leads to hell just as much as faith plus nothing will lead many to hell.

In all our getting get wisdom. I am not disagreeing with your post at all brother, so please dont misunderstand, this isn't addressing what you are saying about the interfaith lie etc.....but since charity/love was mentioned, I just want to mention that we must not forget mercy. Charity is also merciful....it keeps no record of wrongs. Let our conversation be full of grace and seasoned with salt, not full of salt (Lot's wife) and only seasoned with grace. John the Baptist/Spirit of Elijah said he must decrease and Christ must increase. Was John wrong? No, but he was full of the Law while Jesus was full of grace and truth. (And this seems to be a picture of how we grow, as well...it's like we get trained up and tutored under the Law at the first.) Just wanted to plunk that into the pot. One thing about this. Jesus Christ is the one who will judge us all in the end, so it is not up to us to show mercy when it comes to who enters heaven and who enters hell. We are simply to teach the things in the Bible, as written. If Jesus Christ sees a person's heart, and determines they should enter heaven, they will. It is not my place to offer people assurance or hope they can do things that are not right and still make it because God has not finished with them yet. I am just to give the message straight as the Bible says. If that makes them fearful, the Bible says we are to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, so that is a good thing. That may be what it takes to bring them to true repentance. The only kind of grace I can offer people is within what authority I have, not authority I do not have, and only Jesus Christ will say who enters heaven and has an inheritance there.
sister you gotta see this is true . Mercy is true mercy according to GOD . mercy does not entail we keep company or make exuse for error . GOD DONT . and i got news , HEIS FAR MORE MERCIFUL than man . BUT HIS MERCY is tied into , REPETANCE . yeah . let us figure that one out and ponder on it . IF One repents , well GOD giveth mercy . What do you think happens if one repents not , DOES GOD STILL GIVE THEM MERCY , OR JUDGMENT . exactly . JOHN , I charge thee before GOD and the holy angels , TO ONLY STEP THIS KIND OF WARNING UP . WE IN TROUBLE MAN . And we cannot go down a path that puts feelings over truth .

Unto the unrepentant , GOD WILL SHOW NO MERCY . THAT IS A FACT . And cant no one here argue with that . I dare all to read the bible . YES GOD DESIRES ...............what ...................THAT WE REPENT . HE DONT want to destroy , but if men repent not . WELL GO read the message to the seven CHURCHES . AND TRY hard and remember , THEY WERE called CHURCHES . ITS REPENT OR ELSE . JOHN , you TRIPLE DOWN on all warnings . WE CANNOT GO down a path of feelings over truth . My heart aches in sadness , BUT TRUTH MUST BE KEPT and SOUNDED OUT . DO what must be done . But give me a day or so first . give me a chance to do an all out last ditch effort .

The goodness of GOD leads us where .................any guesses anyone . TO REPENTANCE . If a man wont be led to that , i would not expect MERCY on the day of judgment . GOD wont over look anything , no matter if men say he will . EITHER WE FOLLOW the IDENTICAL PATTERN of that bible , or prepare to hear i never knew you .

JOHN , forget what i said about tripling down , TEN FOLD DO IT . Feelings are no good when those feelings contradict the biblical JESUS and HIS PATTERN . But what i say next , i say to everyone . PREAPRE for a house cleaning . IF any of us are in error on anything , prepare for it to be exposed and prepare to repent . Cause we aint got no time to be otherwise minded .

I'm pretty sure the things we repent of don't even come close to the things we don't know about and therefore can't repent of. God through Christ is extending great mercy and longsuffering towards His people, more than we realize...and we are to do likewise...but He is looking for our hearts to be perfect towards Him, sincere and obeying all that we know how to. If we sin obvious sins then of course we need to repent and stop it, otherwise dont' expect blessing and a happy ending. If anyone is comfortable sinning one would have to wonder how whole-hearted they are. God is not mocked. And when the Lord starts shining His light deeper into the dark corners of our heart, that we don't yet know about, then start repenting of those things to get the inside of our cup cleaned, as well as the outside. That is the way we grow, as the Lord leads and as He shines His light. Anyway, that's my understanding of it, and on-going experience as well.

Jesus never says that if the people who called for his execution did not repent, they would be okay because he prayed that prayer. They were still lost. Same thing goes for Stephen's prayer. That was just them choosing not to hold unforgiveness towards those who wronged them. It was not saying they would go to heaven if they died without repenting because they did not understand their actions. The angry mob did not even believe in Jesus. How could they be heading anywhere but hell, prayer or not?

It's not up to us to judge others either....with the measure we use it will be measured back to us. How much mercy do you want brother? I don't know about you but I need a great deal, a great, great, great deal of mercy. Full of grace, seasoned with salt...we need the salt, and to not lose our saltiness, but also we dont' want to be such a sour pickle that we drive people away from the Lord instead of wooing them to Him.

One additional thing I need to point out. Jesus Christ does have the power and authority to forgive sins. If he did want to grant a full pardon to anyone, He can do that, but I am not free to tell people they should not be fearful because Jesus is merciful. I have no way of knowing when those pardons may be given.

I am simply repeating what Jesus and the Apostles said, and choosing to believe they meant what they said. I do nobody any favors to try to promise them peace and safety when there is no peace and safety. I do them no favor to lie to them and say they are okay when they are not, in an attempt to woo them. This has nothing to do with my judgments, but it is about telling them God's judgments based on scripture. I am telling folks that Jesus and the Apostles said this or they said that, and you need to believe and obey. I have no authority to turn around and say, "but" and then go on to make light of it.

When God appeared to me fourteen years ago, He revealed to me many things concerning His bride and what was in store for her before He returned. One particularly interesting things revolving around this particular discussion was this.
There will be a generation of believers who will saved , delivered and sanctified BEFORE they truly repent, not afterwards. i realize some here will want to call me on this. They will demand scripture to back such a heretical sounding statement up. If you will then, read the 36th chapter of Ezekiel. Here God tells His own that they have blasphemed His holy name wherever they have gone. Guys, whether we like it or not, it is speaking about us. Not just those of the side of greasy grace. But yes, those of us who have determined to obey God but without the Spirit being the power behind it.
We have offered the world a religion where our hypocrisy is on full display. Some want to make the grace of God their excuse for remaining in sin. Others want to think they are the true servants of God by their own diligence and obedience, while totally lacking compassion, mercy and tears. These are quick to judge and condemn, and like the two disciples who asked if Jesus wanted them to call down fire from Heaven upon those they saw in error, Jesus responded that they knew not what spirit they were.
Our job is to display Jesus to others, not just quote His words. It is the love we have for those we see trapped in error that will do far more to awaken and draw them than our quickness to point out their errors, declaring them lost. So, that generation I spoke of, found in Ezekiel 36? God said that this generation that, by their lives, did not gather but scattered abroad, this same people who blasphemed His Holy name wherever they went, would be used as God-filled laborers to gather in the great end time final harvest. Whoa.
And how will God accomplish this miracle, this demonstration of His mercy on ALL of us who call ourselves as Christians?
"And I will sanctify My great name which was profaned among the heathen, which ye have profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the Lord, saith the Lord God , when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes."
Ezekiel 36:23
Guys, we are all guilty, myself at the head of the class. We, and I in particular, have not displayed Jesus to a lost and dying world, desperate for light, nor to His own people bound in a religion that sets no one free. We have not displayed His love, nor His compassion. We have lacked His patience and mercy. We have set ourselves on pedestals as if WE are the people of God and that we are living pure and holy lives. We are not. And yet.....
And yet... What a wonderful continuation to our dilemma. What hope remains! What amazing mercy! And yet, despite our blindness and contentment without overflowing with fruits, God is going to restore us to our former glory. All the elect, all who love the Lord, no matter how far they may have drifted through erroneous teaching, WILL hear His voice. They WILL be sanctified wholly, body, soul and Spirit. And just as God has promised us, He WILL cause us to obey Him. We WILL walk as new creatures, and resist satan steadfast in the faith that the old us truly died when Christ died, And guess what? Satan WILL flee from us! Every temptation!
It is when this occurs, and God's church is revived from the dead, where we have been healed bur only slightly, that the truth God reveled to me will come to pass. it will be THEN that we will look back and see how blind we have been, how content in our version of what we thought Christianity looked like. Here is the verse where God has promised such an amazing display of mercy and undeserved grace.
"“‘Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean; from all your filthiness and from all your idols will I cleanse you.
A new heart also will I give you and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and ye shall keep My judgments and do them.
“‘I will also save you from all your uncleannesses; and I will call for the corn and will increase it, and lay no famine upon you. And I will multiply the fruit of the tree and the increase of the field, that ye shall receive no more reproach of famine among the heathen.
Then shall ye remember your own evil ways and your doings that were not good, and shall loathe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.
Ezekiel 36:25-27,29-31
Did you catch that amazing last verse? There it is! The generation forgiven before they repented. US! Wow!
Look guys, I do not want to start a war here. But I have seen a lot of judgment thrown around here, but sadly, how seen few tears shed . Mercy rejoices against judgment. If we feel our brothers are led off in error, we are to warn, yes. But above all we are to PRAY. We are to INTERCEDE. We are to stand in the gap till they see what God desires of all of us. An obedience fueled by Him living inside us, with us reckoned DEAD.
We who are awake to the truth are to cry out to our God to withhold judgment till all His children return to Him. Every single one. We cannot damn others to hell for not obeying if we do not tell them HOW to do so. And if there are still areas of our own lives not fully subdued to His authority, should we not rather be on our knees seeking God to fully deliver us from our own disobedience, from our lack of compassion and empathy and our hard judgments when judgment is not yet? Now is the time for mercy, and we cannot receive it till we acknowledge our own need for it.
Love is what will break the yoke of blindness. If those we warn do not see or feel love as the motivator of our warnings, they will reject us and so they should. Christ cares for those in deception, whether in the church or out. And if Christ is in us, we too will walk the same way.
blessings and I pray any reading this hard-to-read post will bear in mind how much I care as I speak these words.
Gideon

EVEN PAUL gave a couple over to satan that they may learn not to blaspheme .Sorry sister , i stick with scripture . I will die on this hill . I tried to warn us all . i truly did . The approach towards sin and error must be swift . THOUGH the more i love the less i be loved . Paul knew about sin and correction . WE do pray for those who do us wrong . BUT that dont mean we dont correct erring brethren and that dont mean we are not

I know John to be compassionate to the point of self-sacrificing in his actions. He often gives difficult people multiple chances to get things right. Frienduff takes a hard line but he really cares about us. He remembers little details about all of our lives. Self righteousness is not the goal of anyone here. Anyone can come off sounding a certain way online. But in action, all here are sincere.
